In order to keep up to date with the latest aviation security threats and techniques employed to counter them, the AvSec Division’s officers’ regularly attend trainings that include the following:
- Basic Training Course (BTC) – covers Screening of passenger and baggage, access control, use of screening equipment, Legislation;
- Supervisors Training;
- Cargo Security Training and;
- General Security Awareness Training
These trainings are often held with or at venues provided by New Zealand’s Aviation Security Services. This is mainly due to the fact that the Civil Aviation Rule (CAR) Part 140 - which guides the AvSec Division’s operating and reporting procedures – are adopted from those used by the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (NZCAA).
