THE Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA) is committed to working with all stakeholders and development partners to develop a strong and vibrant Solomon Islands.

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare said together a stronger Solomon Islands that can be built to support the people through provision of better and more effective services in the country.

The Prime Minister highlighted this when he delivered his statement this morning at the site visit to witness the progress of the Honiara Airport Improvement Project.

Prime Minister Sogavare said the DCGA core policy strategy centres on development, improvement and rehabilitation of urban and rural infrastructures.

He said this policy strategy adopts a strong emphasis on a “whole of government and whole of society approach”.

“The Aviation Sector is no exception. What we witnessed today is an integral part of this whole of government and whole of society’ approach,” he said.

Prime Minister Sogavare said this project will not only modernise the international airport but also bring Solomon Islands into an age of prosperity and equal access to opportunities for all, stronger than ever before.

“This is the vision behind the DCGA policy and strategy for our nation,” he said.

The Prime Minister said despite the challenges faced as a result of the Covid19 pandemic, work has progressed well.

“I am extremely pleased that despite COVID-19, we still forged ahead with this major infrastructure project, which is creating employment opportunities for our people during this global pandemic,” he said.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sogavare said the Solomon Islands Government acknowledged that positive change only happens when there are genuine and durable partnerships based on trust and mutual respect between countries and partners.
